What is Razz?

Razz is a lowball poker game where each player receives seven cards—three face-down (hole cards) and four face-up—to make the best five-card low hand, with A-2-3-4-5 (the 'wheel') as the strongest. Straights and flushes don't count, and aces are always low.

Rules of Razz

Each player is dealt two hole cards (face-down) and one upcard (face-up)
The player with the highest upcard starts with a forced bet (the bring-in)
Betting rounds follow the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh cards, with the fourth to sixth cards dealt face-up and the seventh face-down
Uses fixed-limit betting (e.g., $2/$4 limits)
The best five-card low hand wins (lowest unpaired hand, e.g., A-2-3-4-5; aces are low, straights/flushes don't count)
Players use any five of their seven cards to form the lowest hand

Strategy Fundamentals

Low cards, seek: Start with three cards 8 or lower (e.g., A-2-3) for a strong foundation
Upcards, observe closely: Watch opponents' exposed cards to track live cards and dead cards
Position, use it: Act last when possible to gain information from others' bets
Bluff carefully, young one: With visible cards, bluffs must align with your upcards to deceive
Dead cards, track: If your needed low cards are in opponents' upcards, fold to save chips
Aggression, balance: Bet or raise with strong low draws to pressure opponents, but fold weak hands
Bankroll, protect: Fixed-limit betting rewards patience and discipline in Razz
